Headlands
Year: 2008
In 2008 Early Works was commissioned by AFTRS to produce the Headlands national documentary development workshop.
Filmmakers from VIC, SA, WA, NT and TAS were selected to participate in Headlands on the strength of their documentary proposals.
Headlands aimed to encourage a supportive environment among peers for rigorous interrogation of the projects. A dynamic workshop program was devised by HeadlandsDirector, John Hughes in conjunction with AFTRS documentary staff Mitzi Goldman and Pat Fiske and Early Works was employed by AFTRS to manage the workshop and events.
Headlands included a 5 day residential workshop in Melbourne (April 7-11), which comprised of group and one-on-one consultations with local and international advisors and a series of documentary film screenings and events.
The residential workshop was followed by a two day budgeting and finance workshop held at AFTRS Melbourne (June 30 & July 1st).
The projects developed at Headlands 2008 will be showcased at AIDC in February 2009.
